Thin coatings could protect the electrodes of magnesium batteries from electrolytes that attack them, provided they let magnesium ions through. In this talk, Piero Canepa presents a computational screening of magnesium compounds for their electrochemical stability and how easily magnesium moves through them, and the coatings it singles out for the anode and the cathode.
