Shidong Yu

PhD Student

I have reacently graduated from NTU and now I work for a company in Singapore.

I am currently a PhD student at the Asian School of Environment at the Nanyang Technology University (NTU), where I am supervised by Prof. Simon Redfern. My previous research is on the atomic structures and electronic properties of 2D Ruddlesden-Popper (2DRP) perovskites via first principle calculations at the density functional theory level. For my final year project, I studied Rashba band splitting and its origin in 2DRP perovskites. Now I am interested in structure predictions, phase transitions, and novel properties of materials under high pressure.

I received my Bachelor in Material Physics from Jilin University, China in 2019, where I worked with Prof. Lijun Zhang for over two years. I also worked with Prof. Oleg Rubel as a Mitacs Globalink research internship at McMaster University, Canada for three months. I love watching films in my free time and I have watched over 800 films. I also like music, art and traveling.
